While seeking further clues, the girls' investigation in a ghost town ends in a near disaster when Nancy is trapped inside a building that is toppled by a rockslide - a rockslide which is deliberately caused. But the pretty titian-haired detective remains undaunted in her determination to solve the mystery.
This one was another fun story! I was so excited we finally got to meet bess and George! I was starting to wonder why we hadn’t met them yet. I remember the first time I read this one, I was on the edge of my seat and couldn’t wait to find out how the phantom horse trick was pulled of and who dun it. Even though I read it before I didn’t have any guess as to which ranch hand was involved and I was on edge trying to figure out, or remember how everything played out!
